Australian Wine Club has since the launch in 2004 been the largest wine club in Sweden, now with more than 38,000 members. More and more Swedes are interested in wine and it is now wines above 100 kr a bottle that are increasing the most in popularity. It is quality wine that our members are seeking, and Australian Wine Club are therefore offer a wider range of this type of wine than Systembolaget (read more in How We Select Our Wines).
Australian Wine Club was founded by Mark Majzner, an Australian entrepreneur, wine connaisseur and former journalist, when he moved to Stockholm with his Swedish wife. With over 20 years’ experience of appreciating and collecting wines, he created the wine club in order to share his passion for Australian Wines. As the club expanded and grew in popularity, so did the choice of wines. Today the name of the club refers not so much to the origins of the wines but rather to the unpretentious attitude towards wine that we try to promote.
With him to Sweden Mark brought the relaxed Australian attitude to wine culture in particular, and life in general. It is this attitude that Australian Wine Club is all about. Wine is best enjoyed with great food in the company of friends and family! Our goal is to make great quality wines available to everybody in Sweden, and to give discerning consumers a choice of where to buy their wines. Australian Wine Club organises wine tastings around the country, open to all members and their guests.
